The Greenhouse Theatre
@ St. Michael’s
Greenhouse is building a theatre at 225 West 99th Street — a shared space inside St. Michael’s Episcopal Church that houses the ensemble, a growing network of resident companies, and ongoing classes for actors, writers, and audiences from across the Upper West Side.
The Partnership
St. Michael’s Episcopal Church has been a presence on the Upper West Side for more than two hundred years. Greenhouse and St. Michael’s are partnering to build on that legacy: a working theatre inside the parish hall, open to independent artists and to the neighborhood that surrounds it.
After a decade bouncing between bars, Off-Broadway rentals, community centers, outdoor stages, and the arts programs of other institutions, Greenhouse has landed somewhere it can plant roots. This is the home we hope will be our last.
The Space
A vaulted hall with a stage at one end, seating about 150. By day it hosts classes, rehearsals, writers meetings, and master workshops. By night it becomes the room where Greenhouse mounts its productions, where resident companies stage their work, and where cold reads, play soirées, and screenings happen for a growing Upper West Side audience.
